Program Goals
Goal #1: Instruction
All instructional staff will utilize WICOR strategies to build relational capacity to help change the culture in classroom and schoolwide; critical reading strategies to promote growth and increase student achievement; and writing strategies to build skills for EOC exams. Students will increase their opportunities to be college and career ready.
Goal #2: Organization
By the end of the first week of school, all students will utilize an organization tool such as AVID notebooks to increase organizational skills and improve academic success. The binders will help to increase students’ awareness of the advantages of AVID on academic success. The notebooks will be given to students and a focus on organization school wide will be utilized throughout the school year.
Goal #3: WICOR
The AVID Site Team will work with school administrators to create an awareness of AVID for all stakeholders.
Goal #4: Recruitment
By the end of the first quarter of the 2024-2025 school year, the school will increase enrollment in the AVID Elective through targeted recruitment efforts. A progress monitoring system will be developed and operational by the start of the second quarter, featuring bi-monthly updates of student performance. Additionally, the principal, AVID administrator, AVID Site Coordinator, and Guidance Counselors will hold monthly meeting to review program effectiveness and make adjustments as needed.

Community Service
One of AVID's goals is for students to participate in Community Service. Some of their activities so far have been:
- Visited and wrote get well cards to a senior in convalescent home who likes to read cards.
- Judged the school's Christmas doors decorating contest. Several students decorated teachers' doors who were unable to do so.
- Volunteered to work concessions during athletic games.
- One of the highlights this year was our AVID students participating in W.A. Perry Middle School for their AVID Parent Night. Our AVID students presented how their experiences in AVID have shaped who they are academically and personally.
