Curriculum Description: Business educators play a prominent role in preparing students to become responsible citizens, capable of making the astute economic decisions that will benefit their personal and professional lives.  Business teachers introduce students to the basics of personal finance, the decision-making techniques needed to be wise consumers, the economic principles of an increasingly international marketplace, and the processes by which businesses operate. Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is the student organization for business students. All students are encouraged to participate in the C. A. Johnson Chapter. Mrs. Outten is the advisor.
Teacher Professional Biography:
I earned my B.S. degree in Accounting from Benedict College in 1978. I was employed as a customer services manager at Bellsouth Telecommunications Inc. from 1977 until my retirement in 1996. I earned a master's degree with a dual major in Computer Resource and Information Management and Management Science at Webster University in 1992. I am currently enrolled as a doctoral candidate at Northcentral University in the Doctor of Education Program with a specialization in E-Learning and Educational Technology Management. I earned National Board Certification/Career and Technical Education in 2008. I hold certifications in Microsoft Office programs Word and Powerpoint, new teacher mentor and teacher evaluation.

I have been employed with Richland One since August 1997. I worked 8 years at Gibbes Middle School. 2009-2010 is my fifth year at C. A. Johnson High School in the Business Education Department.
