C.A. JOHNSON HSM STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN DIABETES EVENT!

A few students from the Health Sciences Magnet participated in the BlueChoice Health Plan Diabetes Health Day Event at the Cecil Tillis Center Tuesday, November 25th.  They got to meet and talk with their staff and were asked a few questions about our school and their program by The Big DM.  Food Science & Dietetics students prepared a delicious diabetic friendly spinach and strawberry salad and a chicken stir fry for Columbia Housing Authority residents.  Many of the attendees were diabetics and appreciated eating a delicious alternative to traditional foods that they were no longer able to enjoy.

C.A. Johnson HSM Students Attend Cadaver  Presentation

Health Science Magnet students  had a great time at Bob Jones University learning about the brain and spine from anatomy professor and medical doctor, Dr. Marc Chetta. Our students had a unique opportunity to sit in a BJU lecture hall, handle a human skull, see a real brain, and assist Dr. Chetta with rotating a human cadaver. Our students were very attentive and fascinated by the experience.

    SOCIAL WORK CORNER

This school year has gotten off to a great start!  Did you know that students who attend school regularly are more likely to graduate and find good jobs?  In fact, a high school graduate makes, on average, a million dollars more than a dropout over a lifetime.  Your education is like money in the bank!

Tips to make the most of your education:

    ·       Attend all classes, every day, ON TIME.

    ·       Make time to meet with teachers when you don’t understand the material.

    ·       When you must miss school, be sure to bring in excuses within 48 hour after you return and get any missed work from your teachers.

    ·       If you miss more than 8 days in a yearlong course or 4 days in a semester course, you may lose credit!  There MAY be options for credit recovery, but it is easier to get it done during designated class times.

Remember students, at C. A. Johnson, Attendance Matters!
